1. Trim all fat from shanks. 2. Dredge in flour with salt and pepper. 3. Brown in fat in deep frying pan or dutch oven. 4. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over meat. 5. place onions and prunes on top. 6. Cover and bake in a moderate oven (350) for 2 hours or until meat is tender. 7. Serve sauce over shanks.
