This is my Grandma's recipe for Krumkakke. Most call for cardamom, but hers doesn't. I've tried other recipes, but always come back to this one. You will need a krumkakke iron and wooden rollers (either cylinder or cone) to make this recipe. Read more . I have my Grandma's cast-iron stove top iron and an electric iron as well. The electric works the best, but isn't quite as nostalgic. Ingredients:
1 c. sugar |
1/2 c. softened butter (almost melted) |
3 eggs |
1/2 c. heavy cream |
1 3/4 c. flour (a little less) |
1 tsp. vanilla (optional) |
Directions:
1. Beat eggs, very little, add sugar and butter. 2. Then add cream, flavoring, and flour. 3. Put a dollop on hot iron. Cook until light brown, then roll. 4. If using an electric iron, use a heaping teaspoon, place dough slightly behind center, and latch griddle. Cook for about 1 minute, then roll. |
