I have loved this recipe since I was little and it was the best the way my grandmother made it. You can make it into any shape or letters you like. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar |
1 tablespoon melted butter |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon anise seed (heaping) |
1 egg |
1 cup sour cream |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 1/2 cups milk |
4 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
Directions:
1. Rub the melted butter into the sugar. 2. Add salt, egg and anise seed. 3. Mix baking soda into the sour cream. 4. Add the milk, 2 cups of SIFTED flour. 5. Add baking powder and remainder of flour. 6. Put plastic wrap into bowl. 7. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. 8. Grease cookie sheets. 9. Roll into log and cut off about size of ping pong ball. 10. Bake at 400°F (204-205°C) for about 5 minutes. 11. Broil for 1 minute. |
