This was orignally a meat and kraut dish that i added veggies to. I am not sure how many servings this makes because we just reheat until its gone. Sometimes i will make a pie the 2nd day by topping with potatoes or biscuits and baking. Ingredients:
2 t. butter |
1 lb beef, cubed |
1 lb pork, cubed |
2 large onions, cut in chunks |
1 tsp fresh ground black pepper |
2 t. sweet paprika |
3 lb sauerkraut |
1 lb. small mushrooms |
1 lb carrots, cut in 1” pieces |
1 t. dark brown sugar |
1 t. caraway seeds |
2 c. beef broth |
2-12 oz. can beer |
1 pint sour cream |
salt and pepper to taste |
chopped parsley |
Directions:
1. In large pot add butter and brown meat. When brown add onion and cook till tender. 2. Add all ingredients but, parsley and sour cream. 3. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 1/2 hours. 4. Stir in the sour cream, check seasonings. Sprinkle with parsley. 5. Serve with biscuits. |
