This recipe uses a rather unusual ingredient, kool-aid, which gives the cookies a sweet-tart like taste Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups four |
3/4 tsp baking powder |
1 pkg kool aid drink mix |
1 cup butter, softened |
1 cup granulated sugar |
1 large egg |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 egg white slightly beaten (to brush the cookies with) |
decorating sugar (to sprinkle the tops with)(same colour as your chosen kool aid flavor) |
Directions:
1. In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and kool-aid 2. Set aside. 3. In another bowl, beat butter, white sugar and egg. 4. Add vanilla. 5. Add flour mixture. 6. Using your hands, form the mixture into 2 separate balls. 7. Wrap each in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour. 8. Roll out 1 ball at a time on a lightly floured surface until 1/4 thick. 9. Cut with cookie cutter and place on a baking sheet. 10. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with coloured sugar. 11. Bake 9-11 minutes. 12. Makes 2 dozen |
