Kimchee Style Turnips

Ingredients:
4 turnips, sliced 1/8 inch thick
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons sugar
2 small slice fresh ginger
1 garlic clove, minced
3 scallions, cut in 1 lengths
1/4 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
1 tablespoon chopped chives
2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds
Directions:
1. Sprinkle turnip slices with salt. Set aside for 2 hours.
2. Rinse and drain.
3. In a saucepan, combine marinade ingredients and bring to a boil.
4. Add turnips and toss mixture. Cook until liquid comes to a boil.
5. Cool; place turnips and liquid in a jar. Refrigerate.
6. Shake jar occasionally to distribute liquid; allow flavors to blend overnight.
7. Serve garnished with chives and sesame seeds.
