4 turnips, sliced 1/8 inch thick |
1/2 cup water |
2 tablespoons rice vinegar |
2 tablespoons soy sauce |
2 tablespoons sugar |
2 small slice fresh ginger |
1 garlic clove, minced |
3 scallions, cut in 1 lengths |
1/4 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes |
1 tablespoon chopped chives |
2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds |
Directions:
1. Sprinkle turnip slices with salt. Set aside for 2 hours. 2. Rinse and drain. 3. In a saucepan, combine marinade ingredients and bring to a boil. 4. Add turnips and toss mixture. Cook until liquid comes to a boil. 5. Cool; place turnips and liquid in a jar. Refrigerate. 6. Shake jar occasionally to distribute liquid; allow flavors to blend overnight. 7. Serve garnished with chives and sesame seeds. |
