KILLER CARAMEL CORN This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Evans Estate in Arlington, Texas in 1989.
Ingredients:
6 quarts popped corn
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup white corn syrup
1 cup margarine
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions:
1. Keep popcorn warn in the oven.
2. Combine brown sugar, corn syrup and margarine and cook until candy thermometer reaches 260.
3. Remove from head and add cream of tartar and baking soda.
4. Stir quickly then add salt.
5. Pour mixture over popped corn then mix well.
6. Bake at 300 for 20 minutes stirring after 10 minutes.
7. Dump out of pan and cool then store in airtight container.
