Beans done the way a local restaurant does them, but with our own spin... sure to please picky eaters! Ingredients:
8 - oz thick slice hickory-smoked bacon |
1- 8 oz strip steak |
famous dave's rib rub seasoning |
8 - oz smoked sausage link |
1/2 cup chopped onion |
1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper |
1 table spoon diced jalapeno |
2 - 28 oz cans bush's baked beans |
1 - 20 oz bottle famous dave's rich and sassy bbq sauce |
Directions:
1. Fry bacon in a skillet until crisp. Drain, reserving 2 tablespoons of the drippings. Crumble the bacon. 2. Sprinkle the steak with Dave's seasoning to taste. Grill over hot coals until medium,or use an indoor grill. Cut into 1/2-inch cubes. 3. Grill sausage until it's nice and charred. Slice the sausage lengthwise into halves; slice those halves into quarters. Cut the quarters into 1/2-inch cubes. 4. Sauté onion, green pepper, and jalapenos in reserved bacon fat until the onion is tender crisp. 5. Stir in bacon, steak cubes, and sausage. Cook long enough to render some of the remaining fat from the sausage. 6. Add the beans and bbq sauce then reduce heat and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes stirring occasionally. The flavor is enhanced if stored with a cover in the refrigerator for 8-10 hours, then reheated just before serving. |
