This is a delicious meal with a crusty loaf of bread on the side. Ingredients:
4 tablespoons butter |
3-4 pounds kielbasa (cut in 2 - 3 chunks) |
note: i have used turkey kielbasa in this recipe and it tastes just as good. most people don't even notice the difference ;-) |
2-12 once bottles beer (not light) |
4 to 5 onions, thinly sliced |
1/2 pound mushrooms, quartered |
salt, pepper and marjoram to taste |
Directions:
1. In a large heavy skillet melt the butter and sauté the onions and mushrooms over medium heat until onions are translucent but not browned. 2. Add the kielbasa and brown for 3 to 4 minutes on each side. 3. Add the beer to the pan and bring to a boil. 4. Reduce heat. 5. Simmer, uncovered for 25 minutes. 6. Remove the kielbasa and onions from the pan. 7. Turn the sausage onto a platter or serving tray and top with the onions. 8. Keep in a warm oven. 9. Reduce the beer over high heat to 2 cups. 10. Pour over kielbasa. 11. Sprinkle with marjoram (optional) 12. Serve with mashed potatoes and beetroot-horseradish relish. |
