These are fun and delicious. I used all butter and skipped the shortening. Recipe courtesy of Pillsbury Poppin' Fresh Homemade Cookies. Ingredients:
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed |
1/2 cup butter, softened |
1/2 cup shortening |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
1 egg |
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 cup candy covered plain chocolate candies |
1/2 cup sunflower seeds, shelled |
1/2 cup candy covered plain chocolate candies |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350. 2. In large bowl, beat brown sugar, butter, and shortening until light and fluffy. 3. Add vanilla and egg and blend well. 4. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup and level off. 5. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt and mix well. 6. Stir in candy-coated chocolate pieces and shelled sunflower seeds into prepared dough. 7. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate if necessary for easier handling. 8. Shape into 2 inch balls. 9. Place 4 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. 10. Press an additional 1/2 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces into balls to decorate tops of cookies. 11. Bake at 350 for 15 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown. 12. Cool 2 minutes and remove from cookie sheets. |
