East Indian Rice Recipe Ingredients:
1 tablespoon oil (olive) |
12 ounces rice (basmati) |
2 cups water |
6 cardamom |
4 cloves |
2 inches cinnamon sticks |
2 bay leaves |
1/2 teaspoon cumin seed |
1/2 teaspoon turmeric |
Directions:
1. Heat the oil in a saucepan and saute the drained rice thoroughly for about 3 minutes. 2. Add the water and spices, then bring to a boil. 3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook gently for 20 minutes. 4. To serve, fluff the rice with a fork. |
