These are light and tasty served with hot soup on a cool fall or winter day. Ingredients:
1 c. milk |
5 t sugar |
1 tsp salt |
4 t (1/4 c.) butter |
4-5 c flour |
1 pkg yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water |
1 egg, slightly beaten |
Directions:
1. Warm the milk, sugar, salt, and butter in microwave for 1 min. Butter need not be melted. Set aside. Put 2 cups flour in bowl. Add yeast, egg and liquid ingredients. Using an electric mixer, beat well. Add flour, 1/2 c at a time until mixer can no longer turn, then stir with wooden spoon. Let dough rest 15 mins on floured board. Knead 15-20 times. Coat dough by rolling in butter-greased bowl. Cover in Sarah wrap and refrigerate until ready to use. On floured board, knead 10 times. Form into balls about half a 3/4 of a tennis ball in size. Place in greased lasagne pan. Let the dough rise 1-2 hrs or until it doubles. Bake at 400F for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven, butter top of rolls. Serve hot. |
