Try this batter mix containing the colonels secret blend of 11 herbs and spices. Lovely with ketchup, BBQ, sweet/sour, hot pepper, mint, soy sauce, yogurt raita, chutney . Ingredients:
• the colonels secret 11 herbs and spices |
2 tablespoon. paprika |
1 tablespoon. onion salt |
1 teaspoon celery salt |
1 teaspoon. rubbed sage |
1 teaspoon garlic powder |
1 teaspoon ground allspice |
1 teaspoon ground oregano |
1 teaspoon. chili powder |
1 teaspoon black pepper |
1 teaspoon sweet basil leaves, crushed |
1 teaspoon. marjoram leaves, crushed fine |
1 teaspoon light brown sugar |
1 teaspoon. salt. |
1 cup. flour (chickpea/self raising white/any) |
water, milk or beer |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients as listed in a small jar with a tight fitting lid (baby food jars work well). 2. Shake mixture to combine. Stores for months. Keep out of direct sunlight, heat and humidity. 3. Make a batter in a bowl by mixing in water(or sparking) or milk or beer 4. Dip your veggies in one at a time 5. broccoli, cauliflower, aubergine, onion, carrots, tofu, potato, peppers, okra, baby sweetcorn, frozen spinich, garlic cloves, courgettes 6. no vegetables?... try a slice of bread cut into 2 or 4 peices 7. Drop coated veggies into batter and deep fry over medium heat 8. Cook for a few minutes depending on the vegetable 9. Alternatively bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. 10. Remove and drain on kitchen paper before serving |
