This is a spicy salsa that I made on a whim one day and everyone started asking me for the recipe! Its got a KICK! Ingredients:
4 firm tomatoes (organic preferred) |
1/2 white or sweet onion, diced |
4 cloves of garlic, minced |
1/2 cup mancini's tangy peppers in sauce, cut into small pieces (or other spicy jarred peppers) |
10 good splashes of red hot or other cayenne sauce |
1 tsp of crushed red pepper flakes |
1 tsp chili powder |
1-2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped (or if using dried use less) |
1/4-1/2 tsp sea salt, to taste |
a few good spins on your black pepper grinder |
1-2 tbsp fresh lime juice |
Directions:
1. Make necessary chopping motions with each ingredient. 2. Add all to a large bowl, trying to keep as much liquid as possible. 3. Mix well and refrigerate at least and hour for best flavor mixing. 4. Makes about 2-3 cups depending how big your tomatoes were. 5. *if you use a flexible cutting board you can pour the juices into the bowl easier 6. *to decrease heat use less pepper flakes, chili, and cilantro 7. *to increase heat add a sliced jalapeno with seeds, or more cayenne sauce |
