I found this one on a Russian Recipe Site. Made it and fell in love with it. In honor of our Russian brothers and sister. Ingredients:
1 liter mushroom broth |
400 grams sauerkraut |
1 onion |
1 carrot |
300 grams boiled mushrooms |
1 tsp flour |
1 tsp sugar |
1 tbsp plum jam |
8 potatoes |
1 tbsp fat |
salt to taste |
Directions:
1. Boil mushroom broth. When broth is ready, take mushrooms away. 2. Stew sauerkraut. 3. Chop onion and carrot finely and fry on a low heat until golden brown. Put in the pan. 4. Cut potatoes in cubes and put in the broth with sauerkraut. Boil for 15-20 minutes. 5. Fry flour on the dry pan for a couple minutes until light brown. 6. Melt flour in 1/2 cup broth without lumps. 7. Add chopped boiled mushrooms, plum jam, flour, sugar, salt to taste and let soup boil for 10 8. minutes. 9. Pour Kapoustnik in a pot and put in the oven to brew up. |
