A very nice sauce that has flavor and texture to enhance but not over power the flavor of a good hot dog. I make this batch and it's enough to freeze for a few months. Ingredients:
1 lb ground chuck (85% or leaner) |
1 cup onion, diced fine |
4 cups water |
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste |
1 cup beef broth |
1/4 cup barbecue sauce |
1/4 cup yellow mustard |
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce |
2 tablespoons chili powder |
1/2 teaspoon cumin |
1 teaspoon garlic powder |
2 teaspoons parsley (dried ) |
1 teaspoon season salt |
1 tablespoon brown sugar |
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper |
Directions:
1. -add liquids in stock pot. 2. -crumble beef and tomato paste with hands in liquid until no chunks are left. 3. -add the rest of ingredients and bring to boil uncovered 4. -reduce to desired consistency, about 2 hours. 5. -season to taste. |
