My original recipe, which came from experimenting with making many different variations, these meatballs are guaranteed to amaze your family. Full of flavor and spice. Serve with marinara / meat sauce and your choice pasta. Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground beef |
5 cloves of minced garlic (or 3 if you are afraid to taste) |
2 slices whole wheat bread, toasted and chopped |
1 sleeve of those round buttery cracker, smashed |
1/2 cup jasmine rice |
1 dash milk |
1 egg |
1 tablespoon dried oregano |
1 tablespoon dried thyme |
1 tablespoon dried parsley |
garlic salt |
1 dash onion powder |
canola oil |
Directions:
1. Step 1:. 2. In a large mixing bowl combine ground beef, garlic, egg, rice and toasted bread crumbs. Take the sleeve of crackers and smash them while still in the sleeve, then add to mixture. Mix with your hands. Really get in there and mix it up so you can tell what sort of consistency you have. If it seems too dry, add a dash of milk. You want to be able to make 1 inch balls without them falling apart. 3. Step 2:. 4. Add the oregano, thyme, parsley, and a dash of onion powder. For the garlic salt, I like to shake out a thin layer on top of the mixture and then mix it in with my hands. You want to be able to pick up the meat and hold it close and be able to smell the garlic salt. 5. Step 3:. 6. Make 1 inch balls of the mixture and set aside. 7. Step 4:. 8. Now that the balls are complete, heat up a quarter inch of canola oil on medium heat in a large saucepan and place around 8 of the 1-inch meatballs in the pan at a time, turning occasionally. You really need to make sure the heat is not too high or they will burn on the outside before the center is fully cooked. 9. Serve with marinara or meat sauce and your favorite pasta. 10. Enjoy! 11. -Josh. |
