A recipe from Linda Collister's Chocolate This is the perfect libation for a cold early winter's night. John Nott, a pastry chef, created this drink in 1726. It sounds odd but tastes delicious. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups port wine |
2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, grated |
1/3 cup sugar (or to taste) |
1 teaspoon cornstarch |
Directions:
1. Put all the ingredients into a heavy saucepan and heat well. 2. Bring to a boil, beating constantly. 3. Then serve in 4 cups of mugs, that have been warmed. |
