This is not your typical spaghetti sauce! The recipe comes from my grandma, and is an old family favorite. We also like to use any leftover sauce as hot dog sauce. Very meaty, very comforting. Makes a large pot, for a small gathering the recipe can be divided in half. Leftover sauce also freezes well.
Ingredients:
4 lbs ground beef
24 ounces tomato paste
30 ounces tomato sauce
1/2 cup sugar
4 bay leaves
3 large onions, chopped
2 teaspoons garlic powder
4 teaspoons salt
5 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons white vinegar
Directions:
1. Put all ingredients (raw) in large pot, stirring often to break up hamburger. Cook over low heat for three hours, uncovered. Add water as needed and remove bay leaves before serving.
2. Serve over hot spaghetti.
