In 'The Glory of Southern Cooking' by James Villas Ingredients:
1 (18 ounce) jar pineapple preserves (or if necessary, peach preserves) |
1 (10 ounce) jar apple jelly |
1/4 cup cider vinegar |
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish |
1 tablespoon cracked peppercorn |
1 teaspoon dry mustard |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese |
Directions:
1. In a big bowl, combine the preserves, jelly, and vinegar; stir until well blended. 2. Add in the horseradish, peppercorns, mustard, and salt; stir until blended. 3. Chill the spread, covered, at least 2 hours, then spoon it over the cream cheese on two crystal serving plates or trays and serve with assorted crackers. |
