A Jewish recipe I found in my mom's recipe box. She grew up in a predominantly Jewish (but also very Greek) neighbourhood in downtown Toronto so has a lot of these recipes. Ingredients:
3/4 pound fine egg noodles |
salt |
1 cup slivered almonds or hazelnuts |
1 cup honey |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F. 2. Cook noodles in salted water until al dente. Drain thoroughly, but DO NOT RINSE. 3. Pack into a shallow pan and leave to cool. 4. When cold and caked, turn out and cut into squares. 5. Arrange on a greased baking sheet and cover each slice with nuts. 6. Warm honey until runny. 7. Pour over each piece and bake 20 mins. |
