Jelly rolls are so great. You can fill these with anything. This is an Amish recipe. It is light and fluffy. I have tried many. Ingredients:
4 egg yolks |
2 teaspoons water |
3/4 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
3/4 cup sifted flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
4 egg whites, beaten, stiff |
Directions:
1. Beat yolks and add all ingredients givin in order. 2. Last fold in beaten whites. 3. Pour into greased jelly roll pan. 4. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. 5. When done turn out onto 10x sugared linen or towel, sprinkled with more 10x sugar and roll. 6. Set aside to cool. 7. This is easy and fast to throw together. Fill with fresh fruit, puddings, cooked fillings the usual JELLY then re-roll. Top with whipped cream or as with the usual jelly roll just sprinkle with 10x powdered sugar on top. Enjoy. |
