This was a recipe that my Gigi (grandma) wrote down from a Church social. Do not use black jelly beans. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves |
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup butter |
1 cup sugar |
1 egg, beaten |
1/2 lb raisins |
3/4 cup applesauce |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon water, hot |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 lb jelly beans |
Directions:
1. Mix together dry flour and spices. 2. Cream butter and sugar. 3. Mix in beaten egg. 4. Alternate mixing dry ingredients and applesauce into the creamed mixture. 5. Dissolve soda in hot water and add to batter. 6. Add vanilla, raisins, and jelly beans. 7. Drop onto greased cookie sheets. 8. Bake 15 minutes at 325 degrees. |
