This is my mother-in-law's pound cake. My husband loves this and has always talked about it as soon as someone says the words pound cake Ingredients:
1 cup shortening |
1 2/3 cup sugar |
6 whole eggs |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
juice of one lemon (can substitute a 1 tablespoon of lemon juice) |
2 cups of flour |
Directions:
1. In a bowl mix all by hand... 2. Mix Shortening and Sugar 3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well! 4. Add vanilla and lemon juice 5. Gradually add flour 6. Bake in a bunt pan,or tube pan, greased and floured 7. Bake in a pre-heated 325 degree oven for 1 hour and 15 mins. 8. Check at one hour. 9. When done turn upside down on a bottle of some kind for about 20 mins. 10. Let cool completely and remove from pan |
