Jeanette's Applesauce Cake |

Moist spicey applesauce cake. I like frosting this cake with cream cheese frosting then sprinkle chopped pecans on top. Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening |
2 cups sugar |
1 large egg |
1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce |
2 1/2 cups flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon clove |
1/2 teaspoon allspice |
1/2 cup water |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°. 2. Cream sugar and shortning until fluffy. 3. Beat in egg, then applesauce. 4. Whisk dry ingredients together. 5. Add dry ingredients alternating with water. 6. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. 7. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until cake tests done. 8. Cool on a rack. 9. Frost as desired. |
