This is the recipe of Anna Bosnjak, cherished neighbor and mother of four wonderful daughters. It's a traditional Christmas Cookie brought to America by Croatian and Serbian Immigrants. Unfortunately it requires a special jazzbow cookie mold that is prized by their owners and handed down from generation to generation. I believe you could use any 1/2 inch deep mold if needed.
Ingredients:
1 lb butter, softened
1 lb confectioners' sugar (10x)
1 1/2 flour, all purpose
1 lb walnuts, ground
4 egg yolks, beaten
1 teaspoon clove, ground
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 fluid ounce whiskey (optional)
Directions:
1. Cream together Butter and Sugar. Mix in the other ingredients until a tender dough is formed.
2. Coat the cookie mold with granulated sugar (this helps release dough from the mold). Tap out the cookie and place on a cookie sheet. If dough is too soft, chill it for about 30 minutes then try to mold these again.
3. Bake at 375 degrees F for about 15 minutes.
