So easy. A twist on an old favorite. Great with pork, chicken, beef. Green chilies jazz it up; almonds and bread crumbs add crunch! Paprika and black pepper give some kick. Jazz, crunch, and kick are the ticket to this green bean casserole. Ingredients:
2 cans del-monte seasoned french style green beans |
2 tablespoons unsalted butter |
1 teaspoon minced garlic |
1/3 cup chopped onion |
1 can cream of mushroom soup |
1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce |
1/2 cup slivered almonds |
1 small can chopped green chilies |
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper |
salt to taste |
1/2 stick melted butter for bread crumbs |
enough bread crumbs to cover casserole (prefer home-made) |
paprika |
Directions:
1. Drain the breen beans 2. Place the beans in an oven proof baking dish 3. In microwavable bowl, melt 2 tablespoons butter, minced garlic, onion, cook for about 1 minute 4. In same bowl, add soup, Worcestershire sauce, almonds, pepper, chilies, 5. Stir to blend, then add to top of green beans 6. In a small bowl, melt 1/2 stick butter, add bread crumbs, coating with the butter 7. Sprinkle bread crumbs over top of casserole 8. Sprinkle generously with paprika 9. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes |
