Seems that everyone (or everyone's mom!) has a goulash recipe! This is a basic one, with plenty of cheese on top. And an A- nutrition grade!
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
6 oz tomato paste
15 oz tomato sauce
1 lb elbow macaroni
1 cup mozzarella, shredded, divided
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded, divided
1/2 cup white onion, diced
1 tsp garlic powder
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. In a large skillet, combine the ground beef and garlic powder. Brown the ground beef, draining fat.
3. At the same time, cook the elbow macaroni to al dente (it will cook the rest of the way later).
4. Add the diced onions to the beef just before it's done cooking, so the onions become translucent as the meat finishes cooking.
5. In a casserole dish, combine the ground beef and macaroni.
6. Add the tomato sauce and tomato paste, stir to combine.
7. Add half the mozzarella and cheddar cheese, stir to combine.
8. Add remainder of the cheese to the top.
9. Bake on 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
