This is my husband's favorite dinner. He is especially in love with the pizza sauce! Ingredients:
1 loaf french bread |
24 slices pepperoni |
1/2 red onion, sliced thin |
1/2 yellow bell pepper, sliced thin |
8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced |
1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes |
1 (6 ounce) can tomato sauce |
3 garlic cloves, minced |
1 teaspoon olive oil |
2 tablespoons fresh basil |
1 teaspoon dried oregano |
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese |
Directions:
1. Mix all the sauce ingredients together, allow to sit for 10 minutes and up to over night. I like it chunky, but you can choose to blend it for a smoother sauce. 2. Slice the bread in half lengthwise. 3. Top each half with a generous amount of the sauce. 4. Layer on the toppings; start with pepperoni, then the mozzarella, and finally the vegetables; add other veggies if desired (I enjoy mushrooms). 5. Dot the top of the pizza with a bit more sauce. 6. Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the bread is crisp. |
