2 whole(s) bay leaves crushed |
4 cup(s) beef broth(reduced sodium) |
3/8 teaspoon(s) black pepper |
3/4 teaspoon(s) chili powder |
1 cup(s) chopped bell pepper |
1/2 cup(s) chopped green onion tops |
4 cup(s) chopped onion |
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground cloves |
1 pound(s) ham(bite size) |
1 pound(s) lean pork(bite size) |
2 cup(s) long grain rice |
1 tablespoon(s) minced garlic |
1/4 cup(s) minced parsley |
2 tablespoon(s) oil |
1/4 teaspoon(s) red pepper |
3 teaspoon(s) salt |
1 pound(s) smoked sausage(bite size) |
3/8 teaspoon(s) thyme |
Directions:
1. In 5 qt Dutch oven, heat oil. Brown pork chunks & onion. Then add ham, garlic, bell pepper, green onion , parsley, thyme, bay leaves, & cloves. Stir well for 5 minutes. Add sausage, beef broth , rice, salt red & black pepper, and Chili powder, Mix well & bring to a boil. Use less heat & let simmer, with cover on pot for 45 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning. It's ready when rice is done. |
