Jam covered dough with crumbled dough on top.very easy to make.all types of left over jams can be used as well canned pie filling, such as lemon.i always double this recipe and use a 9x13 pan.my mother gave me this recipe and i have passed it to several friends.people of all ages love them .when arranged on a plate with different fillings they are attractive,great for parties,bake sales or just your family.enjoy! Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup shortening |
1 egg |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
16 ounces fruit jam |
Directions:
1. Sift together the flour,sugar,baking powder and salt and place in a medium size bowl.Add the shortening and blend well,using a fork.Add the egg and vanilla and continue mixing with a fork.Place 1/2 the mixture in a 8 greased pan,patting to cover the bottom of pan and a little up the sides.Spread jam over the dough and dot with the rest of the mixture.Bake 25 minutes or until nicely browned at 375 oven.Cool on rack and cut when completely cooled. |
