These are fun to make, even if a little time consuming. You won't be disappointed. Ingredients:
1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened |
1 4 ounce can diced jalapeno peppers |
20 (3.5 inch square) wonton wrappers |
1/2 cup sweet chili sauce or pepper jelly |
oil for deep frying |
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, stir together the cream cheese and jajapeno peppers 2. Arrange wonton wrapers a few at a time on a clean dry surface 3. Set a cup or small bowl of water nearby 4. Place about a teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each wrapper 5. Moisten your fingertips in the bowl of water and trace the edges of the wrappers 6. Fold into triangles or follow directions on the package for desired shapes 7. Heat the oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees 8. When hot, fry the wontons a few at a time until golden brown, about 2 minutes 9. Drain on paper towels 10. Repeat with all the wontons, then serve with the sweet chili sauce or warmed pepper jelly 11. If you prefer not to deep fry, brush the wontons with olive oil and bake about 8 minutes at 475 degrees |
