Mexican version of fried cheese sticks Ingredients:
2-8 oz. bars pepper jack cheese |
1 cup flour |
1 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper |
4 eggs, beaten |
1 cup breadcrumbs |
canola oil to fry |
salsa for dipping |
Directions:
1. Heat oil to 375 2. Cut cheese crosswise into 3/4 inch slices 3. Lay slices flat and cut in half lengthwise 4. In mixing bowl combine flour and cayenne 5. Dip cheese in egg 6. Dredge in flour mixture 7. Dip in egg again and then in breadcrumbs, pressing so they stick 8. Put onto baking sheet and freeze 1/2 hour 9. Fry in oil until golden brown 10. Drain on paper towel 11. Serve with salsa as dipping sauce |
