From one of my many little magazine recipe books...not sure which one! Had forgotten about it, until recent conversations about Jack Daniels! Always a hit. NEW NOTE: Made this with bacon the other day, because that's what I had, and we liked it better with bacon! Read more !! Ingredients:
1 pound ground chuck; or 1 lb bacon, cut into 2 inch long pieces and browned and drained |
2 (28-ounce) cans baked beans (or pork and beans) i prefer bush's baked beans, original flavor |
1 (16-ounce) jar salsa |
1 onion, chopped |
1 shot (3 tablespoons) jack daniel's whiskey |
1 shot (3 tablespoons) coca-cola |
3 - 5 t bbq sauce |
tabasco to taste |
salt and pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the beef or bacon and drain. 3. In a 2 1/2-quart baking dish, combine the browned beef, canned beans, salsa, onion, whiskey and cola. 4. Add the BBQ sauce, Tabasco and salt and pepper to taste. Stir well, cover and bake for 2 hours, until the onions are translucent and the sauce is bubbly. |
