You will never buy a jar of pasta sauce again after you try this sauce. Why should you when you can have homemade in 30 minutes Ingredients:
2 -3 tablespoons olive oil |
2 cups onions, chopped |
1 green bell pepper, diced |
2 teaspoons basil |
1 teaspoon oregano |
1 teaspoon thyme |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1 (29 ounce) can tomatoes |
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste |
1 tablespoon honey |
1/2 teaspoon black pepper, to taste |
4 -6 large garlic cloves, mince |
Directions:
1. Heat the olive oil in a kettle. Add onion, bell pepper, herbs and salt. Saute over medium heat until the onion is very soft (8 to 10 minutes). 2. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, honey and black pepper. Use a spoon to break up the tomatoes into bite size pieces. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer, partially covered, for 20 - 30 minutes. 3. Add garlic and cook 10 minutes more. 4. Serve over pasta or anywhere tomato sauce is called for. |
