Italian Style Sausage and Peppers |

I cut this out of a magazine years ago. They are quite tasty Ingredients:
2 lbs italian sausage (sweet or hot) |
1 large onion, sliced |
5 tablespoons oil (i use extra virgin olive oil) |
2 lbs bell peppers (assorted colors red, green, orange or yellow) |
1 1/2 cups ketchup |
1 cup water |
salt and pepper |
8 -10 italian rolls |
Directions:
1. Turn on oven to 350 degrees. 2. Bake sausage for 1 hour. 3. Cut into 8 or 10 pieces. 4. Saute onion in 3 tablespoon until light brown. 5. add peppers and cook. 6. stirring constantly for 5 minutes. 7. Sprinkle remaining oil on peppers. 8. while turning. 9. Mix ketchup and water. 10. add to peppers, mixing well. 11. add salt and pepper. 12. cover and simmer for 20 minutes or 13. until peppers are tender. 14. add sausage to peppers 15. serve on warm Italian rolls. |
