My quiche is always requested at school. One of my favorites in the Italian. I wanted something with my favorite flavors and I believe I was successful with this recipe. My recipe calls for ready made frozen crust because I wanted the quick route here, but all means use your favorite homemade recipe for a crust if you desire! Read more ! Ingredients:
4 eggs |
1 cup heavy cream or half and half |
1/3 cup milk |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon black cracked pepper |
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
1 tomato, chopped |
1/2 cup sliced black olives |
1 tablespoon olive oil |
1/2 cup chopped ham |
1/4 cup chopped bell pepper |
1/4 cup sliced green onions |
1 tablespoon butter |
1 tablespoon italian seasonings |
4 ounces italian blend cheese, shredded |
2 ounces cheddar , shredded |
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. 2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and half-and-half and milk. 3. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. 4. Stir in seasonings and black olives. 5. In skillet, cook onions, ham, and bell peppers in olive oil until tender. 6. Add tomatoes and butter and continue to cook for 2 to 3 minutes. 7. Season mixture with a little sprinkle of salt.(do not over season) 8. Place mixture in pie shell, pour egg mixture over mixture. 9. Top with cheese and place in oven for 15 minutes. 10. Brush crust with additional olive oil or butter if desired 11. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 25 minutes, or until crust is golden and filling is set. 12. Allow to set 5 to 10 minutes before serving. |
