There is nothing Asian about this recipe in taste, only in the method of cooking. It is an easy to make main dish and interchangeable with any ingredients you would like. I don't remember where I found this recipe but it is a good change of pace. You can use fresh herbs instead of dried for more robust flavor. Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs sweet italian sausage or 1 1/2 lbs hot italian sausage |
1 large red onion, sliced |
1 large red pepper, chopped |
1 garlic clove, chopped |
1 lb italian cut green beans, thawed or 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed |
1/4 cup red wine vinegar |
1/4 teaspoon oregano (dried or fresh ) |
1/4 teaspoon basil (dried or fresh) |
your favorite type italian cheese, to your taste |
Directions:
1. In a large pan, cook sausages on all sides, pricking to allow juices to flow out. 2. Cook till done, or around 15 minutes. Remove from pan and cool. 3. Add onion, pepper, and garlic to the drippings in the pan. Saute this for about 5 minutes. Stir in the green beans and cook on high heat for about 5 - 7 minutes, til tender but slightly crisp. 4. Meanwhile, cut sausage into thick slices and return to pan along with the vinegar, oregano and the basil. Stir over high heat for around 5 minutes, and season with salt to taste. 5. Serve with cooked pasta and any favorite Italian cheese, parmesean, fontina, mozarella - . |
