This is a recipe from the same Aunt Josie who gave me her cannoli recipe. They are crispy and taste nutty from the sesame seeds. A lovely cookie. I did not note how many this makes but remember it turning out a lot of cookies. Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour |
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 cup butter, room temperature |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 cup sugar |
3 large eggs |
milk |
2 cups sesame seeds, lightly toasted |
Directions:
1. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt. in a bowl. 2. Set aside. 3. Cream the butter in mixer bowl. 4. Beat vanilla extract and sugar into the butter until fluffy. 5. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating lightly after each addition. 6. Gradually mix in flour until smooth dough forms. 7. Form dough into a ball. 8. Chill 20 minutes, turning occasionally. 9. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. 10. Pour milk to a 1 level in a shallow bowl. 11. Spread sesame seeds on waxed paper. 12. On floured board, shape 1/4 cup of dough into a 10 rope. 13. Cut rope into 2 pieces. 14. Place pieces in milk and then roll in sesame seeds. 15. Place 1 apart on a foil-lined cookie sheet. 16. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes. 17. Remove from oven. 18. Cool. |
