This one came from a coworker of mine and it is absolutely amazing with soups and stews! It's also a nice alternative to corn bread! Enjoy! Note: It works best with butter and I have been adding more seasoning they call for. Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour |
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/3 cup sweet creamy butter |
3/4 cup milk |
1/3 cup sweet creamy butter, melted |
1/8 teaspoon dried oregano |
1/8 teaspoon dried marjoram |
1/8 teaspoon dried basil |
1/16 teaspoon rubbed sage |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 450 degrees. 2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. 3. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add milk; stir just until moistened. 4. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead 10 times. 5. Pat dough into 9 round shape. 6. In a small bowl stir together melted butter and seasonings. 7. Pour 1/2 butter mixture into 9 round cake pan. 8. Place dough in pan; pour remaining butter mixture over dough. 9. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until light golden brown. 10. Remove from pan; cut into 12 wedges. Serve warm. |
