This recipe was given to me by a friend - it has been her family's sauce for several generations. Use it for spaghetti, ravioli, lasagne, etc. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
1 cup onion, chop |
1 garlic clove, mashed |
1 tablespoon olive oil |
2 (12 ounce) cans tomato paste |
2 (12 ounce) cans water |
2 tablespoons sugar |
1 tablespoon parsley |
1 teaspoon oregano |
1 teaspoon basil |
2 teaspoons salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
Directions:
1. Brown beef, onion and garlic in olive oil. 2. Add rest and simmer uncovered 2 hours. 3. I sometimes add fresh basil at the end. |
