A big hit whenever I make and serve to my friends - also very attractive dish
Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup shortening
5 eggs separated
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup black walnuts
1 cup coconut
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
1. Cream sugar, margarine and shortening.
2. Add egg yokes one at a time beating well
3. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beating well, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
4. Add vanilla, nuts and coconut.
5. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry
6. Fold into shortening mixture.
7. pour batter into three greased and floured cake pans
8. Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes
9. Frosting
10. 1 8 oz cream cheese softened
11. 1 stick oleo
12. 1 box powdered sugar sifted
13. 1 tsp vanilla
14. Cream together and spread onto cool cake.
