My Sister-in-law gets lots of requests to bring this. Ingredients:
1/2-1 cup butter |
1/2 cup shortening |
2 cups sugar |
5 egg yolks, beaten |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
2 cups flour |
1 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 cup coconut |
1 cup nuts, chopped |
1 container cream cheese |
1/2 cup shortening |
1 lb powdered sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 teaspoon butter |
Directions:
1. Beat butter& shortening. 2. add sugar. 3. add yolks mix together. 4. add flour alternate with buttermilk& beat. 5. Add vanilla. 6. fold in coconut, chopped nuts, fold in whites. 7. grease three 9 inch pans, bake at 350F degrees for 23-25 minutes . 8. -Icing-. 9. Put on top of the 3 layers. 10. Do Not Put On Sides. 11. Top with nuts. |
