Charoset is a special relish used at the Passover seder as a reminder of the mortar and bricks used by the Israelites when they were slaves to Pharaoh. Its taste recalls the sweetness of freedom. This is a classic version made by the Jews of Italy. Ingredients:
3 cups dates, pitted and chopped |
1/3 cup raisins |
1 2/3 cups almonds, chopped |
2 tart apples, peeled, cored, and chopped |
1/2 cup orange juice |
Directions:
1. Combine, stir well and refrigerate. 2. Can be made in food processor. |
