My family always makes these cookies at Easter but they can be enjoyed anytime. Ingredients:
2 eggs |
1 cup sugar |
6 tbsp crisco |
1 dash salt |
1 to 2 tbsp anise flavoring |
3 tsp baking powder |
3 cups flour |
1/2 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Beat eggs and add sugar gradually. 2. Add Crisco, salt and extract. 3. Mix in baking powder and flour and milk gradually to egg mixture. 4. Flour hands and shape dough into balls or oval shapes, about 1 in diameter. 5. Place shapes on foil-lined baking sheets. 6. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. 7. Frost with 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar mixed with 4 tsp water and a drop of food coloring. Adjust frosting thickness by adding a little more water if too thick or sugar if too thin. |
