This is a no fail recipe for a decent GF bread Ingredients:
3 cups light gf flour (orgran buckwheat pancake mix or basco multi purpose mix) |
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda |
1-1/2 teaspoons salt (or sugar if making a sweet variety) |
1-1/2 teaspoons xanthan gum |
1-1/2 cups buttermilk |
Directions:
1. Stir dry ingredients together 2. Make a well in the centre and add 1 cup of the buttermilk, reserving 1/2 cup 3. Combine dry ingredients and buttermilk with a fork, gradually adding more of the reserved liquid until a soft dough is formed 4. At this point you can transfer it to a bread machine if desired 5. If working by hand, knead the dough lightly on a floured surface for 1 minute 6. Place in appropriate tin (either round or loaf) 7. Bake in 180 deg C oven for 40-45 minutes until it is golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped 8. ENJOY |
