Ingredients:
4 cups flour |
1/4 cup sugar |
1 tablespoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon caraway seed |
1/3 cup shortening |
1 cup raisins |
1 egg |
1 3/4 cups buttermilk |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350F degrees. 2. In lg bowl, sift flour, sugar,baking powder, baking soda, and salt. 3. Stir in caraway seeds. 4. Cut in shortning until crumbly. 5. Stir in raisins. 6. Beat egg with a fork in med bowl,stir in buttermilk. 7. Add to flour mixture. 8. Knead gently 10 times. 9. Place dough on floured baking sheet. 10. Pat into a 7in round. 11. Score top with knife, making an X. 12. Bake 55 minutes, or until a pick comes out clean. |
