This recipe was adapted from Jeanne Ronan (A Wonderful Person And Friend). I know I have my own recipe for Irish soda bread Irish Soda Bread 1 but this is also very good. Ingredients:
4 cups flour |
1 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 egg |
1/2 cup butter, melted |
raisins, soaked in warm water and drained (optional) |
2 cups buttermilk |
Directions:
1. Mix together dry ingredients add rest of ingredients except for raisins. 2. Add raisins to mixture. 3. Bake in a preheated oven in a greased cast iron skillet for 50-60 minutes until golden brown. |
