I recently purchased a bag of Irish Moss from my local co-operative. I have used it twice. I made a Raw Chocolate Mousse and a Raw Cherry Pie. Irish Moss is a thickener similar to gelatin. It takes a little effort to prepare but once it's done you can just blend it into your ingredients to set up. Ingredients:
1 (4 ounce) bag irish moss |
1 quart clean filtered water (i used a mason jar) |
Directions:
1. First thing you must do is read your recipe to see how much you will need. 2. Weigh the Irish Moss out. 3. Rinse it at least 3 times and remove any debris and salt that may be clinging to the moss. 4. Put it into a mason jar and soak in the filtered water for at least 3 days. 5. Rinse the Moss at least 2 or 3 times over the course of the day with fresh filtered water. 6. Then use as per the directions in your recipe. |
