A delicious breakfast loaf quite similar to a scone. Perfect for breakfast, snack or tea! Ingredients:
1 cup buttermilk |
2 cups all-purpose flour |
2 tbsp white sugar |
1/2 tsp baking powder |
2 tbsp butter |
1/2 tsp baking soda |
1/2 cup dried currants |
1/2 tsp salt |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. 2. Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut butter into the mixture with a pastry cutter. Then, add buttermilk until dough becomes soft. Now, mix in the currants. 3. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth. Make the dough into a 7 inch round then place on a lightly oiled cookie sheet or cake pan. Next, cut 1/2 inch deep cross side to side and score with cross 1/2 inch deep on the top. 4. Bake for 40 minutes, and serve. |
